Destination Missoula is dependent on the coordinated efforts of its many committees to develop yearly marketing strategies, evaluate and set budgets, educate the public, fundraise, and provide services to groups, conferences, events and visitors to our community. Committees are also a great way to network with other professionals and develop new business relationships. Email mary@destinationmissoula.org to get involved with a committee today!
Promote Missoula as a visitor destination both domestically and internationally through coordinating creation of an annual visitor’s guide, marketing plan, advertising/media, placements, social media, pr and marketing campaigns. This committee works closely with DM/TBID marketing agency, Windfall Studio. The purpose is to increase the number of independent visitors, meetings, conferences, events, and package tour visits to the Missoula area and increase the length of the visitor’s stay.
Identify new sporting events to bring to the community and provide support to event organizers through direction to important community resources, volunteers, and hospitality. This committee is comprised of board members and representatives from the community with knowledge of and connections to sporting events and organizers.
Coordinate hospitality for conferences and large-scale events by providing event support services.
Working closely with members from the Missoula arts community, this committee looks to create opportunities to promote Missoula as a cultural destination both domestically and internationally through brand development, marketing, and collaborative projects.
This committee works closely with the staff on planning the annual awards celebration and party. The annual celebration is to honor outstanding people in the tourism industry who have made a significant impact during the year, and to bring awareness to the community of what Destination Missoula/TBID have accomplished throughout the year. The committee works to find venues, caterers, entertainment, awards and presentations, and all specifics related to planning the celebration party.
The Missoula Tourism Business Improvement District (TBID) Grant Selection Committee is responsible for allocating funds to new and/or growing events in Missoula for the purpose of increasing hotel room night stays and other spending within the city. The committee is comprised of up to ten members (split evenly between TBID hotel representatives and non-hotel community representatives) who serve a three-year term. Twice a year (March and September) the committee reviews and scores TBID grant applications, interviews qualified grant applicants, and selects grant recipients.
TBID Grant Selection Committee members need to be passionate and knowledgeable about Missoula, tourism, hospitality, and event planning. The TBID hotel committee members represent a diverse selection of TBID properties (factors include property size, location, and ownership structure). Recruitment of new committee members will begin in March of each year. Committee member candidates are required to submit an application for review by the Grant Selection Committee no later than April 30th of each year. The committee will make recommendations to the TBID board of directors and both new and renewing members are to be approved by the TBID board of directors at the June joint board meeting. New members will be instated in July of each year.
